Post #567 of The Jewish War Veterans of the U.S.A., the nation's oldest war veteran's organization - is looking for new members. To qualify for active membership, you must have served on active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States - to include the Reserve Components - during various qualifying periods. Associate membership is available to those who served during other periods and those who served in the armed forces of a country allied with the United States during a war in which the United States was an active participant.

Funeral Contract

A new contract from Torchinsky Hebrew Funeral Home for all members of Jewish War Veterans and their
immediate families is being shown in this issue of our newsletter. This funeral home is endorsed by the Rabbinical Council of Washington & is privately owned. Membership

MEMBERSHIP - Reminder to pay your dues if you have not yet done so. We urgently need these funds to support many programs. If you know a Jewish war veteran who Is not a member of JWV, please ask him or her to join up.

TRANSFERS FROM OTHER POSTS - In the event you know someone who would like to transfer to Post 567, advise the person to submit a brief letter to the national organization requesting a transfer, Have the person call Jerry Jacobs (301-438-3556), as he may be able to expedite this transaction. The request should be addressed to Membership Dept., Jewish War Veterans, 1811 R St., N.W., Wash., D.C. 20009. The letter must state that they wish to transfer from Post (number) to Post 567.

Your Post is in need of additional funds & we do not propose to raise the dues. It would be most appreciated if members would be kind enough to consider J.W.V. Post 567 when making contributions to honor family members on special occasions, such as births, remembrances, etc. The name of the contributor & the occasion will be listed in our Newsletter. The amount of the contribution, large or small, will not be shown. We hope each of you will help us in any way you can. Please make your check payable to J.W.V. SERVICE MEDALS - Requests for the issuance or replacement of military service medals, decorations, and awards should be directed to the specific branch of the military in which the veteran served. However, for Air Force (including Army Air Corps) and Army personnel, the National Personnel Records Center will verify the awards to which a veteran is entitled and forward the request with the verification to the appropriate service department for issuance of the medals.
The Standard Form (SF 180), Request Pertaining to Military Records, is recommended for requesting medals and awards. This form is available via the Internet or by sending a request to:
